DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has rejected Johor PKR chief Datuk Chua Jui Meng's suggestion that the DAP give way for him to contest in the Bakri parliamentary seat in the general election, major Chinese newspapers reported.
Sin Chew Daily quoted Lim as saying that the party would not offer the Bakri seat to PKR as it belonged to the DAP.
“We won it in the last general election.
“How can we simply agree to exchange the seats? I will not give way,” Lim said.
China Press quoted Bakri MP Er Teck Hwa of DAP as saying that party leaders should listen to the wishes of the locals in the area before deciding on the candidate for Bakri.
Er hinted that Chua had left Bakri several years ago and he should contest in a “bigger area”.
The daily reported that there was speculation that PKR and DAP wanted to contest for the seat.
> A furious man jumped on his sleeping wife, slapped and head-butted her after discovering photos of her taking a bath with her Caucasian boyfriend on a digital camera he had given her as a gift.
China Press reported that the photos were taken by the couple's five-year-old son, who saw his mother and the man in the nude.
The husband, a 31-year-old restaurant manager, felt something was amiss when his wife came home to Singapore from a trip to Bintan, Indonesia, last July 18.
He decided to investigate and checked the camera.
What he saw made him furious.
The wife sustained a nose fracture and swelling to her head and right hand.
The daily reported that the man was sentenced to a week's jail on Monday and ordered to pay S$2,000 (RM4,800) in compensation to his wife.
> The daily also reported that a man accidentally ran over his one-year-old daughter while reversing his truck, killing her instantly.
The 6pm incident in Kampung Dusun in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, on Tuesday occurred when the father went to inspect his orchard.
The 45-year-old father of four did not realise that his daughter had followed him into the orchard.
When he reversed his truck, he thought he had knocked into something.
He was shocked to find his lifeless daughter next to the tyre with serious injuries to her head.
