Lawyers for deported Saudi columnist file habeas corpus application

KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyers for Saudi Arabian newspaper columnist Mohammad Najeeb A Kashgari, also known as Hamza Kashgari, who allegedly posted several tweets that insulted Islam, have filed a habeas corpus application against the Home Minister, Inspector-General of Police and two others to get a declaration that his arrest and deportation were unlawful.

The case has been fixed to be heard before High Court judge Justice Rohana Yusof at 9.30am Tuesday.

The application was filed by lawyers Muhammad Afiq Mohamad Noor and Murnie Hidayah Anuar.
