Asli: No conflict over topic, debate is on

By NG CHENG YEE

PETALING JAYA: There is no conflict over the topic of Saturday's debate between MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) director and chief executive officer Datuk Michael Yeoh said Monday.

He said Lim, in a reply on Feb 9, had agreed to the invitation to the debate, entitled "Chinese at a Crossroads - Is the Two Party System Becoming a Two Race System", with Dr Chua.

"The debate is still on," he told reporters at a press conference on the Malaysian Chinese at the Political Crossroads forum, to be held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

He said there was never a conflict between the two parties over the debate's topic.

"All along, we have been talking about the same topic and there is no confusion from both sides," he said.

Yeoh said the debate would be conducted in Mandarin but the audience could ask questions in either English or Mandarin.

There will be a live telecast of the much-anticipated debate on Astro AEC and live streaming on YouTube.

Yeoh urged those interested in attending the conference to obtain the registration form from Asli's website and submit their particulars as soon as possible to book a seat at the forum.

He said currently, only 40 to 50 seats were available for the forum.
