Rozita denies she’s still seeing Shahir

ACTRESS Rozita Che Wan has denied that she is still continuing a relationship with Shahir, the eighth season winner of talent search show Akademi Fantasia.

She told Harian Metro that she had stopped contacting him “a long time ago and wants that chapter in her life closed”.

Rozita, also known as Che Ta among her close friends, was reportedly seen holding hands with the singer, whose full name is Ahmad Shahir Zasawi and years younger than the top-rated actress.

Refuting the report, she said: “I am now solo and not in any relationship. I no longer have ties with that singer.

“Claims that we were seen holding hands are absolutely not true.”

> A furious husband beat up his wife over a compact disc, reported Harian Metro.

The couple, both in their 20s, were returning to their home in Cheras after attending a birthday party when they began quarrelling at about 10pm on Saturday.

She had asked her husband why he had not returned the CD to her brother.

Pressed for an answer, the man said the CD was damaged and he would replace it with a new one.

“Upset with the answer, the victim scolded her husband, who then lost his temper,” a source told the paper.

“He repeatedly bashed her head and told her to get out of the car,” the source added.

> Generous Malaysians who give alms to the needy without going through the proper channels are the reason behind the increasing number of beggars in the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Kosmo! reported.

The daily quoted Federal Territory welfare department director Noormah Abdul Rauf as saying that the number of beggars had escalated over the years, with markets, pasar malam sites, eateries and bus stops being the favoured places to beg.

“Despite frequent operations, the number keeps increasing,” she said, adding that the generosity of Malaysians did not help as the beggars treated them as a “lucrative” source of income.

Noormah said the public could give assistance via welfare homes and various associations.
