Lim to retire from politics if proven that land sale not done via open tender

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has offered to retire from politics if it can be proven that the Bayan Mutiara land sale was not done via open tender.

He also hurled a challenge to Penang Barisan Nasional chief Zainal Abidin Osman and Kota Belud MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan to retreat from politics if they could not prove that the sale of the land was not conducted through open tender.

Lim said that the open tender of the Bayan Mutiara land was advertised in the newspapers in 2010.

"I'm putting everything in for this (his position as Chief Minister of Penang) while it's easier for them to retire from politics.

"One is a MP (Abdul Rahman) while the other (Zainal Abidin) apa pun tak ada (has nothing)," he said in a press conference at his office at Komtar here Friday.
