Police: Only one report alleging molest by scoutmaster

PETALING JAYA: Police have received only one report, lodged by a 14-year-old student, alleging that a volunteer scoutmaster had molested her.
Refuting earlier reports that at least six parents have lodged police reports, Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Meor Hamdan Meor Mohamad urged other students who claimed they have been molested by the man to come forward and file a report with the police.
"As at 9am today (Friday), we have only received one report regarding this case.
"I hope all parties, including the press, will refrain from making baseless assumptions," Meor told reporters at the police headquarters here.
Supt Meor also assured that the police will speed up investigations on the case as it was of public interest.
The scoutmaster allegedly molested several students under his charge.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging of modesty.
