Accused in ski mask threatens newsmen
MUAR: A Malacca businessman charged with cheating a developer in Tangkak at the Sessions Court here drew stares when he wore a ski mask when leaving the courthouse.
Azharuddin Ahmad, 43, also used a tablet gadget to take pictures of press photographers and told them that he respected their job but would remember their faces.
Earlier, judge Kamaruddin Kamsun set three hearing dates for next month for Azharuddin, who is charged with cheating the developer of RM30,000 and possessing a knife and a fake gun without a permit.
Menacing demeanour: Azharuddin taking pictures of press photographers with his tablet as he walks out of the courthouse in Muar yesterday. The judge set March 19, 26 and 27 after Azharuddin claimed trial to all three charges.
The accused, who was arrested on Jan 23 at the Tangkak police station, was charged with possession of a fake handgun, possession of a knife measuring 33.02cm without permit and another charge of allegedly demanding RM30,000 from businessman Datuk Chia Meng Hwa for a political fund.
Judge Kamaruddin maintained the RM17,500 bail set by the magistrate's court in Tangkak on Jan 27.
