Expose KSSB misconduct at Selcat hearing, S'gor MB tells Mohd Zin

By TEH ENG HOCK

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Barisan Nasional coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed has been invited to expose acts of misconduct by Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) at the Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) public hearing.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim extended the invite to Mohd Zin, who had demanded for an explanation on the sacking of whistleblowers by the state-owned sand mining company.

"If he is committed to civil liberties and rights, he should make himself available to Selcat hearings. Then he can substantiate if the company had indeed sacked whistleblowers," Khalid told reporters here Wednesday.

It was initially reported that nine employees of KSSB were either sacked or forced to resign after highlighting concerns over irregularities, but KSSB claimed that only four employees were dismissed for misconduct.

Khalid said he would leave the operations of state subsidiary companies to their respective management boards, adding that Malaysia had the Industrial Relations Act to protect employees.

"They are protected by the Act, and (if they feel aggrieved) they can appeal under the Act," he said.
