MALACCA: The days are numbered for Malacca’s infamous panty-sniffer after his act of stealing undies was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) on Tuesday.

The culprit has been going around sniffing and snatching panties in Taman Merdeka Jaya here for the past two years, and is believed to be responsible for hundreds of missing panties.

Ayer Keroh state assemblyman Khoo Poay Tiong said a 30-year-old housewife installed the CCTV just to track down the person responsible for her missing lingerie.

Caught red-handed: CCTV footage showing the culprit stealing underwear at Taman Merdeka Jaya, Malacca.

“We will hand over the footage to the police so that the culprit can be caught,” he said here yesterday.

Khoo said the housewife decided to fix the CCTV a few days ago after she got fed-up with her expensive undergarments frequently going missing from the clothesline.

“The housewife and her neighbours were stunned when they saw the CCTV footage showing a man in his mid-20s sniffing and snatching the undergarments on the clothesline at the back of their houses,” he said.

Khoo said the culprit would jump over the grilles at the back of the houses to get to the panties.

“I guess the culprit has a fetish for female undergarments as the footage shows him sniffing for a while before stealing the panties,” he said.
