Photo shop owner nabbed for running fake MC syndicate
JOHOR BARU: Police nabbed a photo shop owner for selling fake medical certificates (MC) in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, here, last Friday.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the 35-year-old suspect was arrested around 1.30pm following a tip-off from sources, and after further checks at the premises, police found various fake MCs.
"We also found material believed to have been used to make the MCs, including computers, printers, A4 paper and 13 doctor stamps," he told reporters here Thursday, adding that the syndicate had been operating since last year and sold the MCs for RM25 each to locals working in Singapore.
Mohd Mokhtar said the suspect only provided the MC and doctor's stamp while the patients would fill in their information and date of leave after they bought it.
He added that upon inspection, six of the 13 stamps were using the name of medical officers still working in government hospitals here while seven of the names had already moved to other hospitals.
"We are investigating this case under Section 468 and Section 471 of the Penal Code," said Mohd Mokhtar. - Bernama
