AELB: No report on pipe leakage in Lynas project
DENGKIL: The Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) says there is so far no report of any pipe leakage in the Lynas project in Gebeng, Kuantan, as claimed by PKR.
"If there is a leakage, give me a report and I will investigate but so far I have not received any reports. I also wish to explain here that there is no radioactive material in the area.
"It is not yet operational and until now, no licence has been issued," said AELB director-general Datuk Raja Abdul Aziz Raja Adnan said Thursday.
According to him, AELB would only start an investigation after receiving a report from the parties involved and the question on the leakage was not appropriate because the plant was still not operational.
A news portal had reported that PKR had claimed receiving an e-mail last month informing them that 14 of the 19 pipe network packages in the project had leaks. - Bernama
