PKR Women concentrating on four parliamentary seats
KUCHING: Sarawak PKR Women is eyeing four seats in the parliamentary election.
Its chief Nurhanim Hanna Mohhsen said the wing was now in the process of strengthening its machinery in the three constituencies of Stampin, Saratok and Petra Jaya.
She said the wing’s election machinery in Saratok, launched on Feb 18, was attended by herself and Krian assemblyman Ali Biju.
“Now that our machinery in the three constituencies has been launched, we are ready for the election any time.
“We will also be launching our women’s election machinery in Limbang very soon,” she disclosed, adding, however, that the wing would not be asking for more seats because PKR might not be contesting in many.
According to her, PKR would focus only on seats that it had better winning chances.
“At the moment, we have yet to finalise on the seat allocation among the partners in Pakatan Rakyat.
“But I believe PKR’s candidates will include a few women,” she told a press conference at the Stampin PKR service centre here yesterday.
Sarawak PKR fielded three women candidates in the last state election namely, Ibi Uding (Balai Ringin), Suriati Abdullah (Balingian) and Zolhaidah Suboh (Lambir).
Suriati and Zolhaidah lost their deposits.
