Tuanku Abdul Halim attends parade to honour the King


KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah attended the parade to honour the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong who is also the Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

As soon as the royal couple arrived at 9am, the national anthem 'Negaraku' was played and a 21-gun salute was fired.

The King, accompanied by Armed Forces Chief General Tan Sri Zulkefli Mohd Zin, then inspected the parade mounted by 22 officers and 586 other ranks from the three services of the Armed Forces.

The parade was made up of five detachments, namely three from the army, that is, the Royal Malay Regiment, the Royal Ranger Regiment and the Royal Armoured Corps, besides a detachment from the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and a detachment from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).

As soon as the inspection of the parade and the ATM central band was completed, five aircraft from the army, navy and air force flew over the parade ground for the fly past.

Also present at the ceremony were the commanders of the three services of the Malaysian Armed Forces, and the defence attaches from the foreign missions in the country. - Bernama
