Himpunan Hijau 2.0 rally to change location to MPK4 field

KUANTAN: The organisers of the anti-Lynas Himpunan Hijau 2.0 rally have agreed to change their protest location to the MPK4 field.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the organising committee said that the meeting with Kuantan OCPD ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff Friday morning had gone well and they came to an agreement.

"We will take the MPK4 field on the understanding that there is no obstruction for anyone coming to Kuantan for this gathering and no cancellation of permit to use the field from the Kuantan Municipal Council," it said.

It added that ACP Mohd Jasmani had given his word to facilitate the event and if any of the agreements failed, the protesters would meet the police at the MPK1 field chosen earlier.

It was reported that the organisers of the rally had claimed that some 20,000 people would be present on Sunday morning to oppose the rare earth plant operated by Australia's Lynas Corp in Gebeng which has been given a temporary operating licence (TOL).
