Khalid dares Hasan to name Jati's source of funding

By TEH ENG HOCK

SHAH ALAM: Former Selangor executive councillor Datuk Dr Hasan Ali has been challenged to disclose the source of funding for Jati.

Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said those who funded Dr Hasan and his newly-launched non-governmental organisation would benefit if Barisan Nasional managed to win back Selangor in the next general election.

"Those who are funding him will stand to benefit most (from his actions)," Khalid told reporters at his office here Friday.

Dr Hasan was sacked from PAS on Jan 8 for making statements detrimental to the party, and has continued to attack the Pakatan Rakyat-led state government following his expulsion.

Dr Hasan, who is also former Selangor PAS commissioner and Gombak Setia assemblyman, has been critical of PAS' leadership, particularly over the welfare state concept espoused by the party, which he said deviated from its original struggle of championing Islam.

Khalid said there has been speculation over who was funding Dr Hasan, and he merely wanted the Jati president to clear the air.
