Three killed in Banting shootout

BANTING: Three former convicts were gunned down in a shootout with police shortly after pulling off a heist at a jewellery outlet here.
Two of their accomplices escaped on foot near the Banting market after a fierce exchange of fire.

The drama unfolded a t 1.05pm yesterday when the suspects, aged between 26 and 28, stormed into the outlet.
Wearing masks and armed with parang, pistols and hammers, four of them smashed the display counters and scooped some RM150,000 worth of jewellery. Another accomplice stood guard at the entrance.
They then fled in a car parked nearby.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said police were alert ed and went after the robbers.
After a 3km chase, police intercepted the suspects' car near the market.
Police looking for clues at the scene of the crime in Jalan Sentosa, Banting. “Three of them alighted and fired four shots at the police.
“Our personnel returned fire and killed them on the spot,” he said, adding that two pistols were recovered at the scene.
SAC Mohd Adnan said the three suspects had previous convictions for armed robbery and drugs possession.
He said the Toyota Vios used by the group was reported stolen in Kelana Jaya on Wednesday.
