Court to hear submissions on Lynas review on March 20

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court fixed March 20 to hear submissions on the government's objection for leave by residents in Gebeng, Pahang, for a judicial review of the Lynas operations.

Senior Federal Counsel Suzana Atan on Tuesday raised the preliminary objection that the residents should have exhausted other avenues before coming to court.

"They (the residents) should have appealed to the minister before filing for a judicial review," she said.

On Feb 17, a group of local residents challenged the Atomic Energy Licensing Board's (Board) decision to issue Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd a temporary operating licence for the Lynas Advanced Material Plant in Gebeng, Pahang
