Shahrizat: Against my principles to 'attack' older people

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has refused to retaliate against her predecessor Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz for asking her to step down over the NFC issue.

Saying it was against her principles to 'attack' older people, she added: “I will remain tight-lipped.”

Shahrizat also denied that she was drawing Umno into the NFC controversy because of her refusal to step down.

“I am not a quitter. I am in politics because I have a vision for Malaysia and Wanita Barisan Nasional.

“All over the world, leaders go through challenging times. There is nothing extraordinary or peculiar about what is happening to me,” she added.

Shahrizat also accused the Opposition of going all out to discredit and weaken her because they feared the strength of the Wanita Umno machinery.

“They can run me down. But I am answerable to Allah,” she said.

On a lighter note, Sharizat quipped that a certain PKR 'jambu boy' (pretty boy) was trying to take over the wing's top post.

Although Shahrizat did not name the 'jambu boy', it was apparent she was referring to PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli, who has been hot on her heels over the RM250mil NFC controversy.

“I have received information on the ground that the jambu boy has been stalking me, checking my every movement over the last three months," she said.

Shahrizat said the Wanita wing would be more than happy to send a pair of the wing's trademark red-and-white baju kurung for the PKR jambu boy to wear.

“He will certainly look good in the Wanita Umno outfit," she quipped.
