‘Real and reel life marriage are two different experiences’

PETALING JAYA: Unlike his blissfully wedded character in The Wedding Diary, things are not fine and dandy in the Aniu household.

In fact, the gifted Malaysian actor/musician admitted that “my real life and reel life (marriage) are two different experiences”.

“My real marriage was like a flashbulb. It happened too fast,” he said.

However, Aniu declined to discuss his domestic issues in public out of concern for his 11-year-old daughter who is being raised by his family in Penang.

“Please, have mercy on me,” he said.

It is believed that the 36-year-old and his Taiwanese wife have been living separate lives for two years.

The low-key couple tied the knot quietly in 2001. Aniu was reported as saying: “It was just a simple wedding, with both of our families sitting down to dinner.”

Aniu won't talk about his marital problems, his personal aide told The Daily Chilli.

The Wedding Diary, a Singapore-Malaysia joint production, is directed by Adrian Teh.

The feel-good romantic comedy also stars Elanne Kwong, Kara Hui, Jack Choo, Marcus Chin, Maggie Theng, Shaun Chen and Chris Tong.

Distributed by GSC, the movie opens in Malaysian cinemas on Thursday.
