New twist in murder case

SERDANG: Investigations into the murder of a personal assistant took a drastic turn as police suspect it is a “relationship gone sour”.

Sources said several details gathered at the crime scene raised doubts as to whether Goh Chew Ping, 39, was robbed and killed as initially believed.

They pointed out that there were no signs of forced entry into her car.

“The victim was seated in the front passenger seat.

Searching for evidence: Police officers checking the car for clues in which Goh (inset) was found murdered on Friday night.

“There was also a half-eaten mandarin orange in the car,” said a police source.

Police had earlier suspected robbery as the motive as Goh's mobile phone and handbag were missing.

It is learnt that police had sent the victim's clothes to the forensic lab for tests.

Police are also hoping to trace Goh's former boyfriend to assist in the investigation.

“The boyfriend from Alor Setar was said to have tried to reconcile with the victim,” added another source.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah, in response to speculation that the victim could have been pregnant, said police has yet to verify the matter.

“We do not know if this is true as we are still waiting for the post-mortem report,” he said.

On Friday night, Goh's blood-soaked body was found by her husband slumped in her car at a parking lot near a mall in Seri Kembangan, about 200m from her work place.

She was believed to have died from a stab wound to her neck.

Meanwhile, several business owners in the area have expressed concern over the secluded and dimly-lit car park where the murder took place.

A restaurant owner, who wished to be only known as Anand, said several snatch thefts and robberies had occurred since he started business in the area about eight months ago.

“However, this is the first time that a woman was robbed and murdered. The local authorities should install more lights there,” he said.
