HFMD cases in state nearing 4,000


KUCHING: The number Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) cases in Sarawak is nearing the 4,000 mark with 83 new cases recorded yesterday, bringing the total number to 3,949.

State Director of Health, Dr Zulkifli Jantan in a statement said the number of new cases was higher than yesterday where 59 cases was reported.

He said 28 of the new cases were registered in Kuching, Bintulu (12), Limbang (10), Miri and Sarikei (seven each), Betong and Samarahan (six each), Sri Aman (three), Mukah (two), and Kapit and Sibu (one each).

The total number of patients who were hospitalised for the disease had now rose to 314 following 11 new admissions yesterday.
