Balloon seller with fake death cert nabbed after blowing his cover

THE family of a 55-year-old man accused of burglary obtained a fake death certificate so that he could evade arrest.

However, Kallu Ram was finally caught by police near a town in Jaipur, India, when he started confiding his criminal past to people while selling balloons to earn his livelihood Malaysia Nanban reported.

He had escaped police custody in 2006 while being taken to a court.

His family had managed to get his death certificate issued by a village head last year.

The family would produce a copy of the death certificate when they were questioned about his whereabouts.

Well-known writer and former teacher A. Kamatchi said they had asked the state government to demolish six abandoned government quarters which had become a haunt for drug addicts and turn it into a playground.

She said the land was originally a coconut plantation which was bought over by Ipoh Baru Cooperative in 1964.

It was named Birch Garden in honour of J.W.W. Birch who was the resident of Perak.

Kamatchi thanked Ipoh Municipal councillor S. Subramaniam for helping to make the playground a reality.
