Woman accidently stabs self to death
KOTA KINABALU: A restaurant operator slipped and accidentally stabbed herself to death with a kitchen knife.
Cynthia Tan Kian Hoon, 41, was preparing breakfast when she fell forward. The six-inch knife which she was holding in her hand, pierced into her ribs.
Acting Sandakan police chief Supt Fadzil Mohd Ali said Tan’s son and a worker who were outside the restaurant ran in after hearing a scream and found her face down on the floor.
The son and a relative tried to carry the woman but she collapsed after three steps and lost consciousness, Supt Fadzil said.
A pathologist confirmed the woman died after a main artery was severed, he said, adding that police did not suspect foul play.
