Samsung’s ePaper offer
PETALING JAYA: Every month from May to October, Samsung will sponsor 25,000 of its Galaxy tablet users with six months’ subscription of The Star ePaper as a value-added offer to its customers.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Head of Mobile Phone Division Vincent Chong Weng Kai said that giving the subscriptions was a way for Samsung to show its appreciation to its customers.
He added that the collaboration meant a step forward into the digital age for both Samsung and The Star.
“This is just the start. I foresee exciting times ahead as we move towards and explore more interactive ways of receiving and reading daily news,” he said at the launch of the promotion which was held at Menara Star here yesterday.

The promotion, which is available on a first-come-first-serve basis every month from May 7 until Oct 31, will require current and new Samsung Galaxy tablet users to register online with their details and International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number which is on the device.
Online registration can be made on Samsung Malaysia’s official website but only from May 7.
CEO of SME’s media agency VivaKi Malaysia Ranga Somanathan said that with the partnership, Samsung and The Star acknowledged the evolving media landscape.
“Being a leader in technology and consumer electronics, Samsung recognises the importance of delivering relevant content to its device users.
“With this in mind, The Star ePaper makes timely content available to consumers in a simple and meaningful way,” he said.
Also present at the event were Star Publications executive deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lee, chief executive officer Ho Kay Tat, group chief editor Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, group business director Calvin Kan, SME marketing director Jimmy Tan and corporate marketing senior manager Elaine Soh.
Readers who sign up for the The Star newspaper and ePaper bundle stand a chance to win Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus devices.
The contest begins on May 1.
