By AUSTIN CAMOENS
HULU SELANGOR: A fun trip for 48 people from Cenderiang turned tragic after the tour bus they were in overturned near Sungai Buaya killing three people instantly.
Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Norel Azmi Yahya Afendy said the accident occurred at around 1.50am Tuesday after the bus driver lost control and veered into the Sg Buaya toll plaza construction yard.
“The tour bus was on its way to Malacca from Cenderiang when the incident occurred.
“The bus driver and two passengers were flung out of the vehicle and died at the scene,” he said.
He said the bus driver has been identified as S. Velmuruvu, 25 while the two passengers have been identified as K. Vimala, 54, and Setapa Mat, 46.
“Three other passengers were rushed to the Sg Buloh Hospital for medical treatment while the others escaped unhurt,” he said adding that the dead were sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for post mortem.
When met at the mortuary, Vimala's son K. Regunathan, 37, said his mother was excited about going on a trip with her two grandchildren to Malacca.
“This was supposed to be her first holiday with her friends.
“She usually spends all her time working as a rubber tapper or taking care of family,” he said.
