Former Mimos senior official claims trial to graft charges

KUALA LUMPUR: A former Mimos financial general manager was charged in a Sessions court here Friday with four counts of bribery amounting to half a million ringgit.

Khairul Khalid, 52, claimed trial to charges that he had obtained bribes from Muhammad Khalid Ismail, 64, as an inducement to invest RM5.5mil from Mimos Bhd's investment fund in Eight Asset Management Sdn Bhd.

The bribes, amounting to RM502,002, were alleged to have been received by Khairul at Eight Asset Management corporate office in Menara Weld on Jalan Raja Chulan here, between May 23, 2001 and Feb 8, 2002.

Judge K.M. Nithiyanantham set bail RM10,000 for each charge with one surety and an additional condition that Khairul report to a police station once a month.

The court fixed June 7 for mention.
