Come home for Mother’s Day, mums plead to missing daughters

KUALA LUMPUR: Three sobbing mothers have one wish for Mother's Day they want their daughters to come back home.
A housewife, who only wanted to be known as Yong, 44, said her husband had sent Kong Wei Yan, 16, to school as usual on Tuesday, but by 2.30pm their daughter had not returned home.
“I went to school to look for her,” she said.
“A classmate of hers handed me a letter. It appeared that she had taken a taxi after school ended that day,” she said at a press conference yesterday.

She is worried Wei Yan had eloped with her Nigerian boyfriend.
“Please come home, I really miss you,” pleaded Yong.
The mother had lodged a police report at the Petaling police station on the same day her daughter went missing.
Lee Eng Leng, 45, from Wangsa Maju, said her daughter Toh Poh Kiew could not be contacted since Dec 18.
The 20-year-old had left a note saying that she would work and study part-time since the family could not afford to support her studies after STPM.
“I am not sure why she left home,” said Lee.
“She is an obedient daughter and we have not quarrelled before the incident,” she added.
“Please come home for Mother's Day. We miss you,” she said.
Che Nolia Hassan, 54, from Rawang, said her daughter Noor Haffiza Ibnu Hajar, 24, left home suddenly in July last year with two men in a car.
“I believe one of them is her boyfriend,” said Che Nolia, who had lodged a police report at Bukit Sentosa on July 31.
MCA Public Complaints and Services Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong said MCA had received eight such complaints this year alone.
“These include two missing boys,” he said, urging anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the girls to contact 03-2203 3888.
