Student learns his lesson after losing everything
PETALING JAYA: A college student who started out in online gambling by giving in to a close friend's persuasion and ended up losing everything that mattered in his life. His parents had to mortgage their house and sell their cars to pay off his debts. And his law studies had to come to an end.
Matt (not his real name), who was pursuing a law degree, had everything a 20-year-old could ask for, including a loving family that had always fulfilled his every need.
Little did he realise that his life could be in tatters in the blink of an eye.
“I didn't know what happened, but the next moment, I got sucked' into it. It's an old cliche and I had been warned about it before, but never took heed,” said the avid English Premier League (EPL) follower.
