Strong quake hits Papua New Guinea


KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale hit Papua New Guinea (PNG) at 8.59am Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the quake occurred in PNG New Britain Region, 44km southwest Kimbe PNG and 3,649km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.

No tsunami threat to Malaysia was issued. - Bernama
