Nayati kidnap mastermind’s wife lodges police report

KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of the suspected mastermind involved in the kidnaping of 12 year old Dutch national Nayati Shamelin Moodliar has lodged a police report denying any involvement or knowledge about the kidnapping.

It is learnt that the wife had cut short her holiday with her husband while in Paris when she learnt that the police were looking for her husband in connection with the kidnapping.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the wife returned two days ago and informed the police that her husband was not returning.

"We have not arrested her but are questioning her. She claimed she was not aware of her husband's involvement in the kidnapping.

"No money or valuables were recovered from her but she is assisting us in our investigations," he said, adding that Interpol is assisting police here in the search for the husband who is said to be hiding in Europe.

Nayanti was kidnapped by two men on April 27 while walking to his international school.

He was released six days later after his family paid RM300,000 in ransom to secure his release.

He was released at the Sungai Buloh R&R area hours after the ransom was paid.
