By DERRICK VINESH
KEPALA BATAS: Former Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar says he is willing to offer himself as a candidate in the next general election if given the chance.
Mohd Shariff, who have up his Tasek Gelugor MP seat in 2008, says he is willing to offer himself as a candidate in the next general election if given the chance. As an obedient Barisan Nasional party member, he said he willingly submitted to former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's request to give up his Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament seat to Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop in the last general election.
"I am prepared to come back because Tasek Gelugor was my stronghold, which I developed for 20 years," he told reporters before attending a lunch with Perkasa Tasek Gelugor at Hotel Seri Malaysia Kepala Batas here Wednesday.
He, however, declined, to comment on rumours that he might contest in the upcoming general election under PAS ticket.
"I am friends with all politicians, including DAP's Lim Guan Eng and Lim Kit Siang, PKR's Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PAS' Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat," he said.
