Maid jailed four years for abusing employer's child
KUANTAN: An Indonesian maid was sentenced to four years in jail by the Sessions Court here after she pleaded guilty to abusing her employer's 11-year-old disabled son last March.
Nanis Supardi, 40, a mother of four from Jember, East Java, had stomped on the boy's face, neck, abdomen and chest besides covering his face with a cloth and forcing water down his throat between 6pm and 6.30pm on March 13.
The abuse was recorded on the CCTV system installed at her employer's home in Kampung Batu Hitam Beserah here.
Judge Noradidah Ahmad handed her the four-year jail sentence for child abuse besides six months jail for overstaying in the country.
She ordered the sentences to run concurrently from the date of the maid's arrest on March 14.
The accused was liable to be jailed up to 10 years and fined not more than RM20,000 or both for child abuse.
Deputy public prosecutor Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsuddin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented. - BERNAMA
