Police assure no cover-up in assault case of national boxer

JOHOR BARU: Police have given the assurance that there will be no cover-up in the case of national boxer Mohd Farkhan Mohd Haron (pix) who was beaten by a group of men, including a VIP's son.

Police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said police have recorded statements from eight individuals and detained two suspects, in their 30s, including a woman to help with the investigations.

The duo have been remanded for six days.

"We have yet to record the statement from Mohd Farkhan as the hopsital have yet to give permission to interview him.

"I give my word as the state police chief that the police will not cover up this case and those who are involved would face the consequences," he said.

DCP Mohd Mokhtar said the police have identified those involved in the case and urged them to turn themselves in. Mohd Farkhan, 24, was admitted to the hospital after he was beaten up by seven men in Taman Molek on Sunday morning.
