Kong: Temporary ownership transfer for m-cycles mulled
PETALING JAYA: The Government is considering temporary transfer of ownership to include used motorcycles as well.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said such a facility was only permitted now for used cars, with a RM10 fee for every application by the dealer.
The option was proposed by the Malaysia Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association.
“If the facility is extended to used motorcycles, the charges will be much lower,” he said in a statement.
Kong said the ministry was also consi- dering making temporary transfer of ownership of used cars and motorcycles compulsory.
“This is to avoid problems when the owners surrender their vehicles to used car companies but continue to receive summonses (for traffic offences),” he said.
