Ex-councillor rejects new appointment

KLANG: A former Shah Alam city councillor has rejected an offer by the Selangor government to sit in the Selayang Municipal Council.

K. Yogasigamany said he turned down his letter of appointment as he was unhappy with the “ineffective Selangor DAP leadership”.

“If I take up the appointment, it would give the impression that I had been ineffective in my responsibilities in Shah Alam,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

It was reported that state executive councillor Ronnie Liu had replaced six names from the list of nominated local council members submitted by the Selangor DAP to the state government.

An emergency meeting chaired by DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang was subsequently held where he directed the original list to be honoured.

Yogasigamany said the state government chose to ignore Lim.
