KUALA LUMPUR: The police have obtained a seven-day remand order against the mother of a two-year-old girl who is believed to have died from abuse.

The magistrate’s court in Selayang issued the remand order under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code against the 26-year-old pub singer yesterday.

On Wednesday, police obtained a seven-day remand order against the girl’s grandmother.

The toddler died at the emergency ward of the Selayang Hospital on Tuesday after she was found unresponsive at her home in Apartment Seri Selayang, Taman Prima Selayang.

The girl was declared dead when she was brought to the hospital by her parents at 5.26am. The couple has four other children.

A female physician lodged a police report two-and-a-half hours later after she found bruise marks on the toddler’s hands, legs, face and scratch marks on her left chest and right thigh.

A post-mortem examination conducted showed that the girl died due to ruptured intestines caused by blunt force trauma.
