Rude treatment, unhelpful people in Seoul

I READ June H.L. Wong’s article “Doing some Seoul searching” on her recent trip to South Korea (The Star, June 21) and found myself sharing the same sentiments.

Unlike Wong, I am not into K dramas (never have been) but went to Seoul on an unexpected work trip.

During my five days in Seoul, I received the rudest treatment ever in all my travels. Never mind that most of the people can’t converse in English but they were pretty unfriendly.

From the moment I landed at Incheon International Airport, my impression of the country changed. There was supposed to be someone to pick me up from the airport but the person didn’t turn up so I had to find my way to the office which was in the CBD area.

It was a struggle getting there because people were so unhelpful.

The food also wasn’t my cup of tea and I dislike the taste of kimchi. Five days in Seoul for me seemed like five months. And with that, it’ll be my last trip to South Korea. There wasn’t anything that appealed to me in that country, unlike Japan.
