KUALA LUMPUR: The musical An Evening with the Phantom proved to be a roaring success as guests rose to a standing ovation, not once, but twice, at the end of the show, on its first night yesterday.

The gala dinner event was held at JW Marriott Hotel and organised by Enfiniti Vision Media, a local musical theatre production company known for its homegrown productions such as Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical, P. Ramlee the Musical and The Secret Life of Nora.

Backed by a live band, iconic theatre actor and vocalist Ramin Karimloo presented 15 popular hits from the likes of London's West End musicals, such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, as well as a number from his personal album Ramin.

He also sang four songs with renowned Australian opera songstress Annalisa Kerrigan.

Upon the crowd's request, the performing team returned to the stage for an encore of the famous piece The Phantom of the Opera.

“It's not everyday that we get to enjoy such musical calibre. We are thrilled to present this most talented performer, and for Malaysian fans of musical theatre to experience the West End here in Kuala Lumpur,” said Enfiniti Vision Media group president Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina in her opening address at the gala dinner event.
