Childminder fined RM800 for hurting baby


PETALING JAYA: A childminder who could not stand a baby crying was fined RM800, or two months' jail in default, by a Magistrate's Court here Friday for voluntarily causing hurt to a three-month-old girl.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid imposed the fine on Nadhrah Awang, 23, after she pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of causing hurt to the baby girl.

Nadhrah, from Johor, was charged with committing the offence on Gabriella Gail Gabriel at H117 Apartment Vista, Damansara Damai here on Jan 8.

The housewife was initially charged with abusing the child, an offence under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Ruvinna Mohd Rawi prosecuted. - Bernama
