PM: Govt will verify if S'pore diplomats took part in Bersih rally

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will determine if there is any truth in the reports that three Singaporean diplomats had attended the April 28 Bersih 3.0 rally, before deciding on the next course of action, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) said.
Najib was asked to comment on reports in several online news portals which named the three diplomats, and whether the Government would submit a protest note to Singapore.
"That is within the purview of the Foreign Minister, but what is most important is we want to determine the veracity of the reports, whether they attended as observers or in order to participate in the demonstration.
"This is the fact we must determine,” Najib told reporters after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting here Friday.
The online reports revealing the identities of the diplomats alleged that Singapore was interfering in Malaysia's internal affairs and called on the Government to take action.
