KUALA LUMPUR: A mob allegedly attacked a man and left him dead near a water treatment plant in Batu Caves, near here.

An eyewitness claimed he had earlier seen the victim with five men at the Block C water treatment plant in Selayang Makmur early yesterday.

The witness said he saw the suspects arguing with the victim at about 6am but could not identify them as it was dark and he was about 80m away,

“Shortly afterwards, I saw the suspects attacking the man,” added the witness, who later went to the scene and found the man dead. He then called the police.

The victim had no identification papers on him and was not wearing any shirt.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the victim had the back of his head smashed, believed to be from a large piece of rock found near the scene.

An inspection of his body showed he had a BCG mark on his arm to suggest he was a local. He also had a tattoo on his left shoulder.

The body was sent to the Selayang Hospital for a post-mortem.

“The witness saw the suspects escape in a silver Perodua Kancil but could not spot the vehicle plate number as he was far away from the scene,” said ACP Abdul Rahim.

No arrest has been made so far and police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

ACP Abdul Rahim urged those with information on the case to call the Selangor police hotline at 03-2052 9999.
