Women-only conference for Muslims set to empower lives
PETALING JAYA: A unique Muslim women-only conference will be held this Saturday to engage, educate and empower Muslim women to take on the challenges in their daily lives.
The conference, organised by Mercy Mission Malaysia (the Malaysian chapter of the International non-profit Muslim community development organisation Mercy Mission), will be held at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC) from 8am to 11pm.
“This women-only conference expresses the aim of Mercy Mission to further empower our Muslim community (by) bringing their issues to the forefront and helping develop unique Muslim women scholarship and oratorship,” said Mercy Mission Chairman and CEO Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury.
The one-day conference will feature lectures by prominent speakers, a bazaar that will showcase products and services, an “Angel Investors” programme where budding entrepreneurs can pitch their business ideas to potential investors, and a “This Is ME” showcase of Islam-compliant clothing.
Men and non-Muslim women are encouraged to visit the bazaar, where they can follow the conference proceedings on television.
Tickets to the conference are sold out, but those interested can visit the bazaar and meet with speakers during breaks.
