KUALA LUMPUR: A grocery shop owner was shot dead when he was dropping off his son to school in Seri Kembangan on Friday.

The 32-year-old man was standing at the gates watching his wife accompany their eight-year-old boy into SK Taman Sungai Besi Indah when a motorcycle approached him at 7.30am.

Two men on the vehicle opened fire hitting the man in the body. A security guard at the school said he heard two shots and saw two men rode away on a motorcycle.

The victim's wife rushed him to Serdang Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries around 9am.

Serdang OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Elias said police are trying to find a motive behind the attack.

“The victim has no criminal record and according to his family has no enemies,” he said when met at the scene.
