Theng Book: DAP changes its tune as and when it pleases
PETALING JAYA: The DAP’s sudden support of the MACC over a case involving an official of Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching shows that the Opposition is not consistent in its stand.
Selangor MCA Public Services and Complaints Department chairman Datuk Theng Book added that DAP leaders were selective in what they wanted to believe about the body.
“DAP leaders constantly criticise the MACC of not having any credibility, and that it always favours the Barisan Nasional.
“However, when Teo’s assistant was reported to be involved in corruption, she suddenly sided with an MACC report which stated that the official was innocent.
“If this had involved a Barisan leader, her response would immediately be that the MACC is not trustworthy. This is DAP’s double standards,’’ Theng Book said in a statement yesterday.
Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng had lodged a report at the MACC headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, claiming that Teo and her assistant received RM500 of the RM1,000 paid to the landlord by the Selangor Government for the rental of Teo’s service centre from January 2009 to March 2011, raking in over RM18,000 in two years.
