Two teenagers die in motorcycle-lorry accident


IPOH: Two local teenagers were killed while a Bangladeshi was seriously injured when the motorcycles they were on were knocked down by a lorry at Km24 Jalan Bota Kanan-Teluk Intan, near Perak Tengah, Saturday night.

Nor Azman Ahmad Jamil, 16, and Muhammad Fakaruddin Mohamed Rasoi, 15, both from Tanjung Tualang, Kampung Gajah died after being admitted to the Changkat Melintang Hospital.

The duo succumbed to head injuries.

Another motorcyclist, a Bangladeshi, who was identified as Mathir, 40, was seriously injured while the lorry driver, A. Martin Silva, 48, escaped with minor injuries, Perak Tengah police chief Supt Mohd Fakri Che Sulaiman said Sunday.

He said the lorry, which headed for Bota Kanan from Teluk Intan, was said to have hit the two motorcycles it tried to avoid another motorcycle coming out from a junction at 8.45pm.

"The lorry knocked down the two teenagers, who were on a motorcycle, and a Bangladeshi motorcyclist who stopped at the same junction," he said. - Bernama
