Putera SPDP inches closer to recruitment target
KUCHING: Putera SPDP is targeting to recruit 5,000 members by the end of the year.
Its chief Tony Chen said since its formation four months ago, the wing had registered about 2,000.
“We have another 3,000 to go and I believe we can achieve our target for this year,” he said after the four wings — Putera, Puteri, Youth and Women — had a joint meeting at the SPDP headquarters here yesterday.
Earlier, Puteri chief Barbara Ma-wan said to-date, Puteri and Putera SPDP had nearly 12,000 members.
“Today, we are submitting more than 600 new applications for both Puteri and Putera members.”
She said since its formation in January this year, the Puteri wing had secured close to 10,000 members. Both Putera and Puteri wings catered to those aged between 18 and 35.
Most of the new applications were from students of universities and colleges.
Puteri and Putera, according to her, was a platform for the age groups to voice issues concerning them.
On hand to receive the new application forms from Chen was SPDP secretary-general Salih Bitin.
