Hishammuddin: PM's security not compromised during amok drama


KUALA LUMPUR: The security of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was not comprised at any time during the amok drama at Complex B of the Prime Minister's Department in Putrajaya Monday, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

"I can confirm that the PM's security was not compromised at any time. The police are still investigating the motive, links, plans, etc. Give them time to do their job," he said in a posting on his Facebook page Tuesday.

Hishammuddin said the authorities were always on the alert in ensuring the security of the Prime Minister.

Khalil Afandi Hamid, 47, who claimed to be the promised messiah Imam Mahadi who will arrive to re-establish uprightness before the day of judgement, and a 28-year-old woman went on a rampage with two samurai swords and were shot by police.

Khalil Afandi died in Putrajaya Hospital following the incident at 2.30pm, while the woman has been hospitalised.

Meanwhile, city police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said security at the Prime Minister's Department was under control and hoped that the incident would not be taken advantage of by anyone.

"The police would step up patrols and undertake general policing in Putrajaya and around the Prime Minister's Department," he said.

He also said that policemen in plainclothes would be deployed to monitor the vicinity of the Prime Minister's Department and Putrajaya. - Bernama
