Move stalls to another location during Ramadan

WITH the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) track right smack in the middle of Persiaran Jengka in Subang Jaya, the Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) should have looked at locating the food stalls for this year’s fasting month, which starts on July 21, from Jalan SS 18/6 to another location.

The stalls will be hardly 10 metres from the construction site and the question of hygiene and contamination of food arises.

With the whole area so dusty currently, I wonder whether it will attract the huge crowds that have been coming here these past years. Malaysians look forward to buying these goodies at these stalls every year.

But with the stalls located so close to the construction site and with dust in the air, it will be sad for these stall holders should sales be affected.

With Persiaran Jengka reduced from three lanes to two on either side due to the construction, a massive traffic jam can also be expected in the evenings along Persiaran Jengka, Jalan SS 18/1, Jalan SS 18/1C, Jalan SS 18/4E and Jalan SS 18/6 as people will stop to buy food.

It is clear that there was no plan or study by MPSJ before the allotment of stalls was made.
