Man caught with RM5,400 worth of subsidised diesel
MUAR: Police here have detained a man and seized some 3,000 litres of subsidised diesel worth about RM5,400.
The man, who is aged 31 and from Malacca, had planned to sell the petrol to several industries there.
He was arrested after police stopped a truck near a temple along the Muar-Parit Jawa road at about 3.30am yesterday.
Muar deputy police chief Supt Shahadan Jaafar said the lorry had been modified and was able to carry about 6,000 litres of diesel in a special tank.
Investigations showed that the man would buy subsidised diesel from petrol kiosks in Muar and Batu Pahat and pump the fuel into a special tank on the truck.
“The man would buy the subsidised diesel at RM1.80 per litre and then sell it to industries in Malacca at RM2.30,” he said at his office yesterday.
