New RM20 hits high note

SUBANG JAYA: Shawn Lin was thrilled to see the new RM20 banknote as it reminded him of his childhood.
“I'm glad that it's back in circulation as it will make paying for groceries more convenient,” said the 29-year-old IT consultant.
Lin's girlfriend Wendy Low, 20, said the new series of banknotes, comprising RM100, RM20, RM10, RM5 and RM1 denominations, were brightly coloured and had beautiful motifs of Malaysia's cultural heritage and nature.
IT executive Muhd Rezalli, 33, said he liked the texture of the new notes.

Human resources manager Hajah Norlida, who is in her 50s, was glad that the new notes were introduced just in time for Hari Raya.
Among the enhanced security features on the new notes are a shadow image, clear window, watermark portrait with pixel and highlighted numerals, micro lens thread, perfect see-through register and coloured glossy patch.
A tactile identification feature has also been included to aid the visually-impaired.
The RM20 note has been reintroduced under the series themed “Distinctively Malaysia”.
Bank Negara said it had been engaging with shopping complexes, parking operators, public transport companies and ticketing and vending machine operators to calibrate their machines to accept the new notes.
